I stand swaying in dead air
crying a bucketful of dry tears
as deep as the Ocean
Hearing music so soft, so silent.
For a man who reached his end.
Did his soul touch yours ?
Were you there at his concerts
or like me stone deaf busy ?
I stand in silence now
Begging forgiveness with dry tears
for staying away so long.
Hearing only Hallelujah
recognising a single rhythm
That filled a hundred songs
Leonard Cohen
please forgive me ?

ReplyDelete'Dear Mel - This is beautiful.
I bet he is reading it, smiling and holding up a thumb.
It's all about letting the light in.
Much love,

Annie your appreciation means a lot to me. For you had met Leonard and knew him.

ReplyDeleteLovely Mel, thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome.
DeleteThank you. I love Cohen's poetry and this piece is just beautiful. I think there were many who only heard the "hallelujah" of later years but he touched and inspired so many over his lifetime.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment. It is I think the nature of poetry to evoke feeling or a sense within the reader which can be positive or negative. For either are of equal value in that a least they have been touched.
ReplyDeleteLikewise, just as I value the comments left here regardless of whether they are negative or positive.
A wonderful tribute to a great man.
ReplyDeleteAnd how he touched my soul, forever.
Kind regards
